The AXAGON ADR-220B is a 20 m active USB 2.0 A-M to B-M repeater cable designed to extend connections to USB-B devices such as printers, scanners or plotters. The active repeater amplifies the USB signal to enable reliable communication over distances far beyond passive cables, and the compact active module and shielded cable help maintain signal integrity and reduce interference.

Advantages

The active cable supports USB 2.0 high/full/low speeds (480/12/1.5 Mbit/s) and is fully backward compatible with USB 1.1. It includes an integrated auxiliary power connector (Ø 3.5 x 1.3 mm) and a USB-A to 3.5 mm power lead for devices that require additional current. The compact repeater housing fits into cable management systems, the construction uses a high-quality shielded cable, and two LEDs indicate power and device connection. The cable is plug-and-play and hot-pluggable.

How to use

Connect the USB Type A male end to your computer and the USB Type B male end to the remote device. If the connected device draws more current than the USB bus can provide, plug the included USB-A to 3.5 mm power cable into a suitable 5 V USB-A charger (minimum 1 A) and into the repeater’s auxiliary power jack. The LEDs on the repeater show power and device connection status. Additional passive USB cables may be used after the active cable if needed.

Usage recommendations

For most devices the USB bus power is sufficient; use the external 5 V power input when devices require higher current. Use a standard USB-A charger with a minimum 1 A output (for example mobile chargers like AXAGON ACU-DS16) when external power is necessary. Ensure compatible operating system support: modern Windows, macOS and Linux distributions include required drivers and install them automatically.
