Mitre box Bahco 234-W3 Cutting angles 45° 90° 135° Wood
The BAHCO 234-W3 mitre box is a wooden guide for making straight and angled cuts at 45°, 90°, and 135°. Constructed from durable hardwood, this mitre box provides a stable base and fixed cutting slots to guide a saw and help achieve accurate crosscuts and mitre joints. Its compact footprint of 300 mm width, 65 mm depth and 70 mm height makes it suitable for bench-top use and easy storage in a workshop or garage.
The solid wooden construction reduces vibration and holds workpieces securely while cutting, enabling cleaner edges and more consistent results. Pre-machined slots for 45°, 90° and 135° offer repeatable accuracy without the need for frequent re-measurement. Its lightweight, compact design allows quick positioning on small workpieces and convenient transport between job sites or around the workshop.
Place the workpiece inside the mitre box so that it rests flat on the base and against the fence. Select the slot corresponding to the required angle (45°, 90° or 135°) and align the cut line with the slot. Hold the workpiece firmly with one hand or secure it with a clamp if needed to prevent movement. Insert a suitable hand saw into the guide slot and make controlled, even strokes while keeping the saw within the slot to maintain the angle. For repeat cuts, reposition the workpiece consistently against the fence and use the same slot.
For best results, use a saw with a blade width compatible with the guide slots and keep the blade sharp to reduce tear-out. Where precision is critical, clamp the mitre box to the workbench and mark cut lines clearly before sawing. Regularly inspect the wooden fence and base for wear; replace the mitre box if the slots become enlarged or damaged to maintain cutting accuracy.
