Metalworking chisel BAHCO 3750, weight 310 g, hardened steel blade
The BAHCO 3750 metalworking chisel is a hand tool intended for cutting, shaping and removing material from steel and other metals. Weighing 310 g and fitted with a hardened steel blade, the tool is designed for direct striking with a hammer and for controlled chiselling operations in fabrication, maintenance and repair work. The chisel combines a wear-resistant cutting edge with a solid body construction suitable for repeated impact use.
The hardened steel blade provides sustained edge retention and resistance to deformation during impact. A reinforced impact head increases durability when struck with a hammer, while the flat oval shank improves grip stability in a vice or when handled. The lacquered copper-colour finish offers surface protection against corrosion and makes the tool simple to inspect for wear. The overall weight and balance support precise manual control during cutting or grooving operations.
Secure the workpiece to prevent movement before chiselling. Position the chisel with the cutting edge at the intended start point and hold the shank at a controlled angle to the surface. Deliver measured hammer strikes to the safety impact head to advance the cut or remove material, taking care to maintain the correct bevel orientation of the blade. For fine finishing, use lighter taps and progressively reduce striking force. Inspect the cutting edge regularly and dress or re-sharpen as needed to maintain performance.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and gloves, and ensure work area is stable and free of hazards. Do not strike the blade with a hardened or fractured hammer face that could cause chipping. Store the chisel in a dry location and keep the edge protected to prolong service life.
