Bahco 3853-27-0.9-5/8 hacksaw blade is a replacement cutting blade designed for hand and bench hacksaws, intended primarily for cutting structural steel, tubes and profiles. The blade has a nominal width of 0.89 mm and uses high-speed steel (HSS) for the saw teeth to provide extended wear resistance and cutting stability. The 5/8 TPI tooth pitch is configured for thin-walled and single workpieces as well as bundles, and the PF tooth geometry reduces out-of-square cutting, vibration and tooth stripping for improved cutting accuracy and fewer broken blades.
The HSS tooth material offers a combination of increased hardness and toughness, extending tool life compared with standard carbon-tooth blades. The PF-shaped teeth and double set provide greater resistance to tooth stripping and reduce pinching, which improves blade durability and cutting consistency. This blade’s tooth design is optimized for maximum cutting performance and is particularly well suited to mitre or angle cuts on metal sections.
Install the Bahco hacksaw blade into a compatible hacksaw frame following the frame manufacturer’s instructions, ensuring correct tooth orientation for cutting on the pull or push stroke as required. Secure the blade under appropriate tension to prevent flexing and maintain a straight cut. Begin cutting with steady, even strokes and allow the blade to do the work; avoid excessive force that may cause pinching or blade breakage. For angle or mitre cuts, align the workpiece and maintain consistent stroke length and pressure to preserve blade life and achieve accurate results.
Use cutting lubricant or cooling fluid when sawing thicker or harder steel to reduce heat buildup and extend blade life. Replace the blade when tooth wear or damage reduces cutting efficiency, and select the 5/8 TPI blade for thin-walled sections, single pieces or bundled cuts for optimal performance.
