The Bahco 3853-41-1.3-2/3 hacksaw blade is a bi-metal blade designed for cutting structural steel, tubes and profiles. With a thickness (width) of 1.27 mm and high-speed steel (HSS) teeth, the blade provides extended tool life and reliable cutting performance. The blade features a special PF tooth geometry and double set that together reduce out-of-square cutting, tooth stripping, vibration and pinching, helping to minimize broken blades and deliver consistent results, including when performing mitre (angle) cuts.
HSS tooth material and an improved high-speed steel cutting edge provide a balance of hardness and toughness for long wear life. The PF tooth shape and double set reduce common problems such as pinching and stripped teeth, while the specially designed tooth layout optimizes cutting performance. The blade is available with a 5/8 TPI option for thin-walled and single work pieces or bundles, and a wide set option for heavy structural work to further prevent pinching.
Install the Bahco 3853-41-1.3-2/3 blade in a compatible hacksaw frame, ensuring correct orientation so teeth cut on the forward or backward stroke as required by your frame. Secure the blade with appropriate tension to prevent wobble while avoiding excessive force that could cause premature breakage. Use steady, even strokes and let the blade's tooth design and HSS cutting edge do the work, applying light feed pressure appropriate to the material thickness. For mitre cuts, support the workpiece and maintain a consistent cutting angle for accurate results.
For best performance, match the blade TPI and set option to the workpiece (use 5/8 TPI for thin-walled or bundled items and wide set for heavy structural sections). Keep the blade tensioned correctly, maintain steady cutting strokes, and replace the blade when cutting becomes slow or the tooth edge shows visible wear. Use appropriate personal protective equipment when cutting metal.
