Bahco BWMSP15 ball joint extractor
The Bahco BWMSP15 ball joint extractor is a specialist socket set designed for removing damaged, broken or seized studs, bolts and socket screws in high-torque applications. The set combines a left-hand aggressive spiral profile with a special spline shape to provide enhanced gripping power on rounded or sheared fasteners. Manufactured from high-performance Ni-Cr-Mo alloy steel and finished with a zinc-phosphate blast treatment, the tool set is hardened to a range that balances wear resistance and toughness for heavy-duty workshop use.
The left-hand spiral and spline geometry deliver strong bite and controlled extraction even on heavily damaged threads, reducing the need for drilling or weld-on extractors. Hardened Ni-Cr-Mo construction offers high strength and durability under repeated torque, while the blasted finish increases corrosion resistance. The set composition covers a broad range of common sizes so users can match the socket to the damaged fastener quickly, improving efficiency during repairs.
Select the socket size that most closely matches the damaged screw or stud. Attach the socket to an appropriate 1/2" or 5/8" hex drive and position it squarely over the fastener. Apply turning force in the extraction direction; the left-hand spiral and spline profile are designed to bite into rounded or fractured metal as torque is applied. If necessary, use gradual, controlled torque to allow the extractor to seat and avoid further damaging surrounding components. After removal, inspect both the extractor socket and the workpiece for wear or deformation.
Use with compatible drive tools and appropriate safety gear. For severely corroded or extremely hard fasteners, consider applying penetrating fluid and allowing time to soak before extraction. Store the sockets dry and clean to preserve the blasted finish and maintain performance.
