Filament BambuLab PLA Silk+ 1.75 mm 1 kg with reusable spool — Purple
BambuLab PLA Silk+ 1.75 mm 1 kg with reusable spool — Purple is a silk-finish PLA filament formulated for FDM/FFF 3D printing. The filament has a nominal diameter of 1.75 mm and is supplied on a reusable spool, offering a smooth, glossy surface ideal for decorative parts, visual prototypes and models where a refined appearance matters. The material combines the ease of use of PLA with an enhanced surface sheen that reduces the need for post-processing for many display-oriented prints.
The silk-modified PLA provides a consistent feed and dimensional stability on standard 1.75 mm extruders, reducing print failures due to diameter variation. Its formulation produces a smooth, low-porosity surface with a subtle metallic-like sheen in purple, improving visual quality for figurines, signage and consumer product mock-ups. The reusable spool supports spool management and storage while helping to reduce waste compared to single-use reels.
Load the 1.75 mm filament onto a compatible FDM/FFF printer following the printer manufacturer's instructions for spool mounting and filament insertion. Typical print temperatures for PLA-based silk filaments range between 190–220 °C; begin testing at the lower end and increase as needed to optimise layer adhesion and surface finish. Use standard PLA bed adhesion methods such as a heated bed at moderate temperature, blue tape or glue stick as recommended for your printer. Adjust print speed and retraction settings to reduce stringing; silk-modified PLA often benefits from slightly slower speeds and tuned retraction to achieve the best surface sheen.
Store the filament in a dry environment or sealed bag with desiccant when not in use to maintain consistent print behaviour. Perform small calibration prints to confirm optimal temperature, speed and retraction before printing larger or higher-value parts.
