Synthesizer Behringer Model D Black Housing colour Black Power source DC AC
The Behringer Model D is a mono analog synthesizer in a black housing that accepts both DC and AC power sources. Inspired by classic 1970s designs, it reproduces the original "D Type" circuitry with matched transistors and JFETs, precision resistors and capacitors. The pure analog signal path includes three voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), a 24 dB ladder filter, VCA, dedicated analog LFO, modulation options and semi-modular routing. Its compact design makes the instrument suitable for studio work and live performance, and it can be mounted in a standard Eurorack case for modular integration.
The Model D provides authentic analog tone through a faithful recreation of classic VCO, VCF and VCA circuits, delivering rich basses, leads and vintage textures. Its three VCOs offer multiple waveform choices and a wide six-octave range for detailed sound design. The 24 dB ladder filter with cutoff, emphasis and contour controls gives precise filtering options including low- and high-pass modes and envelope modulation. Semi-modular architecture enables immediate playability without patching while offering expandability via control and audio inputs. Dual DC/AC power compatibility and Eurorack-ready form factor add practical flexibility for both studio and touring setups.
Connect the Model D to a power source (DC adapter or AC where applicable) and route audio to your mixer or audio interface via the Main Out or Phones output. Use the Tune and VCO waveform selectors to set the basic tone, then shape timbre with the Cutoff and Emphasis controls on the ladder filter. Adjust the Filter and VCA envelope parameters to control note dynamics, and employ the LFO and Mod Mix for vibrato, filter sweeps and rhythmic modulation. For external control, connect a MIDI keyboard or a computer via USB or DIN-MIDI; for modular setups, mount the unit in a Eurorack case and use the front-panel inputs for control voltage and audio integration.
For stable tuning and optimal audio quality, warm up the instrument for a few minutes before critical takes, use high-quality shielded cables for audio and MIDI connections, and if integrating into a Eurorack system, follow standard power distribution practices to avoid noise. When chaining multiple units for Poly Chain, set each unit's voice order according to the manual for consistent polyphony.
