Hex key (inch) Bondhus 5/16 with T-handle and ball end
Bondhus 5/16-inch hex key with T-handle and ball end is a hand tool designed for fastening and loosening 5/16" hex fasteners in inch-based systems. The tool combines a molded T-handle for comfortable two-handed torque and a long shank with a ball end that permits angled engagement when access is limited. Constructed for routine maintenance, assembly, and repair tasks, this hex key provides a balance of control and reach for applications where a straight approach is not possible.
The T-handle geometry offers improved grip and allows the user to apply higher torque than a standard L-key while maintaining hand comfort during repetitive operations. The ball end enables up to approximately 25–30° of angled entry into the fastener, making it easier to work in confined or obstructed spaces. The inch-sized 5/16" tip matches inch-standard fasteners precisely, reducing rounding and improving engagement. The combination of handle leverage and ball-end access increases efficiency for both assembly-line and field service tasks.
Select the 5/16" hex T-handle when working with inch-standard 5/16" hex fasteners. Insert the hex tip into the fastener head; for straight engagement, align the shank with the fastener and apply steady torque using the T-handle. When access is obstructed, engage the fastener using the ball end at a slight angle, keeping the tool aligned with the fastener as much as possible to avoid slippage. Apply firm, controlled force and reverse direction as needed to loosen or tighten. Inspect the fastener and tool tip periodically for wear to maintain secure engagement.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment and ensure the fastener and surrounding parts are supported before applying high torque. Avoid using the tool as a pry bar or hammer. Store the hex key in a dry environment to minimise corrosion and check the ball end for rounding if heavy or prolonged angled use is frequent.
