Drill Bit Set Bosch HSS cylindrical 5 mm, 10 pcs, model 2608577218
Bosch HSS cylindrical drill bit set, diameter 5 mm, contains 10 identical twist drills designed for precise and repeatable drilling in metal and general workshop tasks. Each drill is made from high-speed steel (HSS) with a PointTeQ self-centering tip and a black-oxide coated flute. The set follows DIN 338, Type N geometry with a 135° tip angle and a cylindrical shank intended for mounting in three-jaw chucks, drill stands and drill drivers. Overall length is 86 mm, offering a balance of rigidity and reach for common metalworking operations.
The PointTeQ tip design provides fast, accurate starts and reduced wandering at the drilling point, which supports quicker operation and consistent hole quality. Increased drilling rate reduces heat generation and wear on the cutting edge. Black-oxide coated flutes improve chip evacuation and corrosion resistance, while the HSS material and slightly elastic body lower the risk of breakage for small-diameter bits. The cylindrical shank ensures secure mounting in standard chucks.
This set is intended primarily for metalworking and general-purpose drilling; it is not optimized for masonry, tile, glass or concrete where carbide or specialized masonry bits are required. For high-volume production in hard or abrasive alloys, carbide or coated carbide drills may offer longer life than standard HSS.
Secure the 5 mm cylindrical shank in a properly tightened three-jaw chuck or appropriate drill holder. Mark the drilling position and, where practical, center-punch to improve accuracy. Select suitable cutting speed and feed for steel or cast iron: moderate speed and steady feed to avoid overheating. Use cutting fluid when drilling metal to improve chip evacuation and tool life. After use, clear chips from the flute and store bits dry to maintain the black-oxide finish.
For best results in metal, use light cutting oil, moderate spindle speed and steady feed. Center-punch small holes before drilling to reduce tip walking. Replace worn bits to preserve hole quality and reduce load on the drill motor.
