Bosch Tile drill bit CYL-9 SC 3x70 3 mm diameter

The Bosch Tile drill bit CYL-9 SC 3x70 with a 3 mm diameter is a specialized accessory designed for precise and efficient drilling in ceramic tiles and glass. Engineered for clean starts without slipping, this drill bit ensures smooth performance during installation and renovation tasks, making it ideal for professionals and DIY enthusiasts working on interior finishing projects.

Advantages

This drill bit features a specialized geometry that allows for accurate centring without slipping, resulting in clean entry holes in sensitive materials. The robust design contributes to reliable performance and extended tool life when working with delicate surfaces such as glass and soft to medium ceramic tiles.

Suitable for

• Drilling holes in ceramic tiles for bathroom and kitchen fixtures
• Working with glass and non-tempered panes
• Interior finishing and renovation projects
• Precise hole creation for wall plugs and fasteners in tiled walls

When it may not be suitable

This drill bit is not designed for heavy-duty drilling in hard natural stone, granite, or reinforced concrete. It should also not be used with high-impact hammer drilling modes, as impact force can crack fragile materials like glass and ceramic.

Key specifications

• Bit diameter: 3 mm
• Total length: 70 mm
• Material compatibility: Ceramic tiles, glass
• Design type: CYL-9 SC specialized drill bit

How to use

Insert the drill bit securely into the drill chuck and ensure it is tightened properly. Mark the desired drilling spot clearly on the tile or glass surface. Apply light and steady pressure during operation, and drill at a low to medium speed without using the hammer function. To prevent overheating and to prolong the life of the bit, use water as a coolant during the drilling process, especially when working with glass.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify that a 3 mm diameter matches the required size for your specific fasteners or anchors
• Check that your drill is compatible with cylindrical shank bits and allows for low-speed control
• Confirm the material hardness of your tiles, as extremely hard porcelain tiles may require diamond-tipped alternatives

Usage recommendations: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, when drilling into glass and ceramics to protect against flying fragments. Keep the drilling speed low and maintain a continuous supply of coolant liquid to achieve the best results and prevent material damage.
