The Brennenstuhl BN-1298680 is a compact handheld moisture meter designed to measure the moisture content of wood and various building materials such as concrete, brick, screed, plasterboard and wallpaper. Measurements for wood are displayed in the range 5–50% and for building materials in the range 1.5–33%. Readings are shown on a large LCD in percent with 0.1% resolution and an audible signal that can be switched off. The instrument has a protective cap and a separate battery compartment for a 9 V block battery (not included).

How to use

Remove the protective cap and insert a 9 V monobloc battery into the separate compartment. Switch the meter on and select the appropriate mode if required for wood or building materials. Place the probes or contact points on the material surface and wait for the LCD to stabilise. Read the moisture percentage on the display; use the hold function to lock the value if you need to move the device before recording the result. Turn off the meter after use or allow it to switch off automatically.

Usage recommendations

For reliable results, ensure contact points or probes are clean and press firmly and evenly against the material surface. When measuring building materials, take multiple readings across the area to account for local variations in moisture. Replace the 9 V battery when the low-voltage indicator appears and store the meter with the protective cap in place to protect the probes.
