Heat-Shrink Tubing Cabletech 2 mm × 1 m, red
Heat-shrink tubing Cabletech 2 mm × 1 m, red is a flexible polyolefin sleeve designed to provide electrical insulation and mechanical protection for wires, cable joints and terminations. With a nominal diameter of 2 mm before shrinking and a 1 m length, this red tubing is used to seal and reinforce soldered joints, exposed conductors and connector entries. When heated, the material contracts to form a tight, protective layer that reduces exposure to moisture, abrasion and minor mechanical stress.
The tubing offers reliable electrical insulation and improved strain relief after heat application. Its polyolefin composition provides good dimensional stability and resistance to common contaminants, while the red colour makes it easy to identify specific circuits or polarity. The 1 m length allows flexible use for multiple repairs or installations, and the 2 mm nominal diameter fits many small wires and connector pins.
Slide an appropriate length of tubing onto the wire or over the joint before making the electrical connection. After soldering or assembling the connector, position the tubing centered over the joint and apply heat evenly using a heat gun, lighter with caution, or another controlled heat source until the tubing contracts and conforms tightly to the underlying components. Allow the tubing to cool and set before handling. Ensure the heat source is kept at a safe distance to avoid damage to nearby components and to achieve uniform shrinkage.
For reliable results, select tubing slightly larger than the final diameter of the insulated assembly so it can slide on before shrinking. Use a regulated heat gun for even heating; avoid prolonged direct flame contact. For environments requiring enhanced sealing against moisture, consider combining tubing with a small amount of adhesive-lined heat-shrink if a watertight seal is needed. Store in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to preserve flexibility and shrink performance.
