Cabletech heat-shrink tubing, nominal 6.5 mm diameter and 1 m length in red, is a single-walled thermoplastic sleeve designed to shrink around wires, cable joints and terminations when heated. It provides electrical insulation, mechanical protection and basic environmental sealing for general electrical repair, wiring harnesses, cable management and strain relief tasks. The tubing is applicable in electronics, automotive wiring and household installations where heat-shrink protection is required.
The tubing offers predictable shrink performance and a consistent wall thickness after heat application, enabling reliable insulation of exposed conductors and solder joints. Its red color improves circuit identification and organization. The flexible material conforms to irregular shapes and maintains flexibility after shrinking, while offering abrasion resistance and a degree of moisture protection suitable for indoor and protected environments.
Cut the required length from the 1 m tube, slide it over the cable or joint before making the connection, then apply heat evenly with a heat gun, hot air tool or controlled flame until the tubing conforms tightly to the underlying conductor or joint. Maintain a safe distance and move the heat source to avoid overheating or scorching; allow the tubing to cool to form a secure, insulating fit. For best results ensure surfaces are clean and dry before shrinking.
Use a regulated heat gun for even shrinkage and to avoid damaging connectors or nearby components. Select a slightly larger tube if the assembly includes connectors or irregular shapes so the tubing can be positioned prior to shrinking. For outdoor, high-moisture or oil-exposed applications consider using adhesive-lined or specialized tubing variants instead of single-wall general-purpose tubing.
