Calumet CALSAB1252 is a 52 mm Black Mist (Mist) filter designed to soften highlights, reduce contrast and create a subtle, diffused glow around light sources. The single-piece filter produces a gentle diffusion that smooths skin tones, mutes harsh detail and adds a cinematic, dreamlike atmosphere to portraits, landscapes and creative shots. The optical element is made of Japanese AGC glass and the slim aircraft-grade aluminium mount includes unscrewing tabs and double threading for stacking with other accessories. A protective carrying box is included.

How to use

Screw the Calumet 52 mm Mist filter onto a lens with a matching 52 mm thread (check the lens or cap for the Φ52 marking). The filter installs by turning it clockwise onto the lens filter thread until snug; use the tabs on the frame if extra grip is required for removal. When stacking, attach the second filter or accessory to the front thread. Clean the filter with a soft microfiber cloth and, if necessary, a mild optical cleaner to maintain the coating performance.

Usage recommendations

Choose the degree of diffusion according to the desired effect: a lighter diffusion is recommended for portraits to retain facial detail, while stronger diffusion can be used for dramatic landscapes or night scenes. Avoid excessive cleaning with abrasive materials; rely on the hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings by removing droplets and fingerprints promptly with a soft cloth.
