CERESIT CT17 deep penetration primer is a professional water-based primer for consolidating mineral substrates and preparing them before tiling, floor leveling, rendering or plastering. It reduces surface absorbency and improves adhesion of subsequent layers, ensuring more uniform application and preventing too-rapid drying of adhesives or fillers on weak or very porous bases. The product is supplied in a 5 L container and is suitable for both interior and exterior use.
The primer’s synthetic resin dispersion penetrates deeply into the substrate structure to bind loose particles and stabilise the surface without significantly changing its mechanical strength. Its yellow tint provides visual control during application, helping to ensure even coverage on irregular substrates. CT17 is suitable for a wide range of mineral bases and can be diluted for very absorbent surfaces to adjust penetration and consumption.
Ensure the substrate is dry, load-bearing and free from dust, grease and other contaminants that reduce adhesion. Very absorbent or weak substrates may be diluted with water up to 1:1 before use. Apply CT17 with a brush in one or more coats using a wet-on-wet method where appropriate. Allow approximately 2 hours for drying, although drying time will vary with substrate absorbency and ambient conditions. After drying, continue with tile adhesives, levelling compounds, render or plaster as required.
Apply at temperatures between +5 °C and +25 °C. Adjust dilution and number of coats according to substrate porosity to achieve an even, stabilised surface and the recommended consumption of 0.1–0.5 L/m².
