How to use

Place the Chemex FP-1 coffee filter into the top of the appropriate Chemex coffeemaker with the thicker side against the spout if indicated by the brewer design. Rinse the filter with hot water before brewing to eliminate any remaining paper fibers and to preheat the vessel. Add the desired amount of ground coffee, pour hot water evenly in a controlled spiral or pulse pours to saturate the grounds, and allow coffee to drip through the filter into the carafe below. Discard the used filter and grounds after brewing.

Usage recommendations

Use a medium-coarse grind and freshly boiled water cooled slightly (about 90–96°C) for optimal extraction. Pre-rinsing the filter improves flow and prevents papery flavors. Store filters in a dry, cool place to preserve performance and prevent moisture absorption.
