Masonry chisel Cimco 130024
The Cimco 130024 masonry chisel is a hand tool designed for precise shaping, cutting and removal of masonry materials. Manufactured from chromium-vanadium steel, the chisel combines strength and toughness with a hardened cutting edge. With an overall length of 300 mm and a flat cutting edge of 29 mm, this tool is suitable for controlled chipping, scoring and finishing of bricks, blocks, stone and mortar joints. It is supplied as a single unit for use in both professional and home improvement projects.
The chromium-vanadium construction provides resistance to wear and impact while maintaining edge retention during repeated use. The 29 mm flat tip offers a balance between material removal rate and precision, enabling accurate chiselling without excessive damage to surrounding surfaces. The 300 mm length gives reach and leverage for controlled strikes, enhancing user control when paired with an appropriate hammer. The tool’s solid, one-piece design reduces the risk of breakage under normal working conditions.
Position the flat tip against the masonry surface at the required angle and strike the chisel’s head with a suitable hammer or mallet. For controlled removal, use light, repeated strikes and advance gradually along the work line. When removing mortar or repointing, work from the centre of the joint outward to avoid damaging the edges of adjacent bricks or blocks. Maintain a safe working distance and secure the workpiece as needed.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety goggles, gloves and hearing protection. Inspect the chisel regularly for signs of excessive wear, mushrooming or cracks; dress the head and re-sharpen or replace the tool if necessary. Use the chisel only on materials and for tasks consistent with its flat tip design; avoid using it as a pry bar or on hardened steel. Store in a dry place to prevent corrosion.
