Kenko Smart Filter Circular PL Slim is a circular polarising camera filter with a 4.6 cm diameter and a slim profile. Designed to reduce reflections from non-metallic surfaces and to deepen color saturation, this black filter threads onto lenses with a 4.6 cm filter thread. How to use

Attach the filter to a lens with a matching 4.6 cm thread and rotate the outer ring while observing through the viewfinder or on the live view screen until the desired reduction of glare and enhancement of color is achieved. For strongest elimination of glare, position the camera so the reflective surface is at about a 30–40° angle relative to the filter. To deepen blue skies and increase cloud contrast, shoot at a right angle to the sun with the sun approximately 30–40° above the horizon. Adjust exposure after setting the polariser as the filter can affect light transmission.

Usage recommendations

Use the polariser when photographing non-metallic reflective surfaces such as water and glass, and in landscape scenes where haze reduction and increased color saturation are desirable. Rotate the filter to fine-tune the effect and check exposure after adjustment. Avoid using strong polarisation when the sun is directly overhead or at a 90° angle, as the polarising effect will be minimal.
