Wired Router Cisco C926-4P
The Cisco C926-4P wired router is a fixed-configuration integrated services router designed for secure broadband and Metro Ethernet connectivity. It supports IEEE 802.1x networking standards and Ethernet LAN data rates of 10, 100 and 1000 Mbit/s, and is intended to serve small office or branch deployments with up to 50 users. The device includes hardware and cryptographic support for common security algorithms and implements advanced routing protocols for flexible network management. With a four-port managed LAN switch, it provides local connectivity for multiple devices and supports centralized or remote management through Cisco IOS Software and web-based tools.
The router offers a combination of performance and security suitable for branch environments: support for BGP, EIGRP and OSPF enables dynamic routing across complex topologies, while cryptographic options such as 3DES, AES (128/192/256-bit), DES and SSL/TLS enhance data protection and secure management channels. With 2000 MB of flash memory and 1024 MB of DRAM, the device provides headroom for configuration, routing tables and security features. The integrated 4-port managed switch simplifies local network connectivity and reduces the need for additional hardware.
Install the Cisco C926-4P in a suitable rack or shelf location with adequate ventilation and connect the WAN and LAN interfaces according to your network design. Use the web-based management interface or Cisco IOS Software to perform initial configuration: assign IP addresses, enable IEEE 802.1x where required, configure routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP or OSPF) and apply security policies using the available cryptographic algorithms. Load necessary firmware and configuration files to the device flash memory and verify DRAM usage for route and session handling. Connect end devices to the integrated 4-port managed switch and validate connectivity and access controls.
For reliable operation, place the router in a controlled environment with stable power and cooling. Keep firmware and security signatures up to date, restrict administrative access using SSL/TLS and strong authentication, and monitor performance and OA&M metrics via centralized or remote management tools to maintain service levels and detect anomalies early.
