Wireless Access Point D-Link DWL-8720AP 2.4 GHz 5 GHz Wi-Fi 6
The D-Link DWL-8720AP is an outdoor-ready, dual-band Wireless Access Point that supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and the high throughput of Wi‑Fi 6. Designed for medium to large-sized enterprises and high-density environments, it delivers up to 6936 Mbit/s and supports centralized management via D-Link Unified Wireless Controllers or standalone operation. The unit is IP67-rated for dust and water protection and can be mounted on walls or poles for flexible external deployment.
The DWL-8720AP offers high bandwidth and deployment flexibility, with support for Wireless AC Wave 2/Wi‑Fi 6 speeds, dual-band operation and WPA3 security. Quality of Service (QoS) prioritizes time-sensitive traffic such as VoIP and video conferencing to reduce interruptions. Centralized management and remote batch configuration through a compatible D-Link controller simplify administration and firmware updates. PoE support enables fast outdoor installations where power outlets are not available.
Mount the DWL-8720AP on a suitable wall or pole in the outdoor area requiring coverage. Connect the device to a PoE-capable switch or injector to provide power and network connectivity through the RJ-45 port. For standalone operation, configure SSIDs, security (WPA3), channels and QoS settings via the device’s web interface. For centralized management, add the access point to a D-Link Unified Wireless Controller (for example the DWC-2000) and deploy network policies, firmware updates and batch configurations from the controller console.
Place the access point where it has clear line-of-sight to the coverage area, avoid placing it close to large metal objects or heat sources, and ensure PoE power budget and controller firmware are up to date before large-scale rollout.
