Network Video Recorder (NVR) Dahua NVR4216-16P-EI — 16-channel IP 4K support, PoE 16 ports
Dahua NVR4216-16P-EI is a 16-channel network video recorder designed for IP camera systems that require 4K recording capability and integrated Power over Ethernet. The unit supports direct connection of up to sixteen PoE cameras, centralized stream management, continuous and event-triggered recording, and remote access for monitoring and playback. Its combination of multi-channel input, 4K support and on-board PoE simplifies installation and management for small to medium surveillance deployments.
The recorder consolidates video streams from multiple IP cameras while supplying power via its built-in PoE ports, reducing the need for separate power supplies and cabling. Native support for 4K video ensures high-resolution capture for identification and evidence purposes. Recording modes include continuous, scheduled and event-based options, and the device provides centralized playback and remote viewing to streamline management of recorded footage.
This NVR is focused on IP camera systems with PoE and may not be suitable if your setup uses only analog cameras unless you add encoders or hybrid front-end equipment. Very large-scale installations that require more than sixteen directly connected PoE cameras or extensive storage capacity may require higher-capacity NVRs or distributed recording solutions.
Install the NVR in a secure, ventilated location and connect IP cameras directly to the PoE ports using Ethernet cables; cameras will receive both power and data over the same cable. Configure recording schedules and event triggers via the device interface or management software, and set up user accounts for remote access. Use the built-in playback tools to search and review footage by time, channel or event. Ensure network settings are configured for remote access only if secure connections and authentication are in place.
For reliable operation, use quality Ethernet cabling (Cat5e or higher), configure RAID or sufficient local storage for desired retention, and apply firmware updates and strong access credentials. If planning remote access, enable secure channels (VPN or HTTPS) and monitor network bandwidth when multiple 4K streams are active.
