Heating cable Danfoss 134W / 7m (18W/m)
The Danfoss heating cable 134W / 7m (18W/m) is a self-regulating heat-trace cable designed to provide freeze protection and temperature maintenance for pipes, gutters, roof edges and small-diameter fluid lines. The cable delivers a total output of 134 W over 7 metres, with an average linear power of approximately 18 W per metre, and adjusts its output in response to ambient temperature changes to help limit energy consumption while maintaining required temperatures.
The self-regulating design provides variable power output along the cable length, increasing heat where temperatures are lower and reducing output as temperatures rise, which helps prevent overheating. The cable is suitable for continuous use outdoors or in damp environments, offering resistance to moisture and reliable heat distribution along its length. Its compact construction and even heat output make it convenient for wrapping around pipes, placing in gutters, or securing to roof edges where consistent freeze protection is required.
This cable is intended for freeze protection and temperature maintenance on pipes and small lines; it is not designed as a primary heating source for large spaces or open areas. It may be unsuitable where very high continuous power is required over long distances; for such applications a different heating solution or higher-power circuit configuration should be considered.
Install the heating cable along the length of the pipe, gutter or roof edge following manufacturer guidance for spacing, attachment and electrical connection. Secure the cable with appropriate clips or tape compatible with the cable jacket, and avoid overlapping the cable on itself. Connect the cable to a suitably rated power supply and, where required, use a thermostat, temperature controller or residual-current device as part of the installation to meet local electrical safety regulations. After installation, verify continuity and insulation resistance and test the system under expected operating conditions.
For reliable freeze protection, plan the run to cover vulnerable sections such as exposed joints, bends and near fittings. Use a dedicated circuit and follow local electrical codes when connecting the cable; integrate a suitable control and protection device to improve safety and energy efficiency.
