The Datalogic Skorpio X5 is a key-based handheld mobile computer with a 4.3" (10.9 cm) multi-touch Gorilla Glass display and an 800 x 480 pixel resolution. Designed for retail, transportation and logistics, manufacturing and healthcare, this rugged portable data terminal combines a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Android OS and multiple scan engine options to deliver high performance, reliability and extended battery operation. The device supports 3 GB RAM, 32 GB flash, SDXC cards, and multiple Wi‑Fi standards to meet enterprise connectivity needs.
The Skorpio X5 features a large, high‑visibility Gorilla Glass screen for comfortable use in bright outdoor and indoor lighting, plus configurable keypads (28‑key numeric, 38‑key function, 47‑key alphanumeric) and multiple scan key layouts. It offers hot‑swappable battery support and optional wireless (contactless) charging to reduce maintenance and downtime. Users can select between linear, standard 2D and a unique Mid‑Range imager (read up to 2 m) to match scanning distance requirements. The device is ruggedized with drop resistance up to 1.8 m, IP65 ingress protection, and optional rubber boot for extra protection. Android Enterprise Recommended and Google Mobile Services ensure enterprise‑grade management, security and compatibility.
Power on the Skorpio X5 and configure network and Google services through the Android setup. Choose and install the required enterprise or inventory applications from your management console. Select the keypad variant and scan engine that match your workflows. For scanning, aim the appropriate imager at the barcode and press the configured scan key or soft spot; the device reads barcodes from close range up to the mid‑range option’s 2 m capability. Replace or hot‑swap batteries during long shifts without powering down when supported by your configuration, and use the optional wireless charging cradle or contactless charging units where available.
Use the Mid‑Range imager when you need reliable reads at distances up to 2 m but do not require an extra‑long‑range engine; choose contactless charging models in environments where dust, moisture or frequent connector wear are concerns. Regularly update Android and security policies via your enterprise management tools and, when operating in extreme conditions, consider the rubber boot accessory for additional drop protection.
