Plate compactor Dedra DED8830 earth rammer 88 kg, 5.5 kW
Dedra DED8830 earth rammer is a petrol-powered plate compactor engineered for compacting soil, sub-base layers and trench backfill. With an operating mass of 88 kg and a compact footprint, it provides steady impact energy for small to medium groundworks such as paving preparation, landscaping and foundation leveling. The unit is supplied as a single machine and features transport wheels for easier site mobility and repositioning.
The device combines a robust 5.5 kW petrol engine with a durable rammer plate and vibration-damped handle arrangement, delivering reliable compaction performance on cohesive and granular soils. Its 88 kg operating weight offers a balance between penetration depth and operator manageability, while built-in transport wheels reduce manual lifting during relocation. The compact dimensions allow access to narrower trenches and confined areas.
This earth rammer is not intended for very large-area compaction tasks where a heavy plate compactor or roller would be more efficient. It is also less effective on very soft organic soils or deep loose fills that require staged, heavier compaction. For projects with strict low-emission or electric-only requirements, a petrol-powered unit may not meet on-site restrictions.
Place the rammer on the area to be compacted and start the petrol engine according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Move the machine forward in overlapping passes to ensure even compaction, keeping a steady pace and allowing the unit to deliver repeated blows. When compacting trenches, work from the edges toward the center and avoid abrupt direction changes. Use the transport wheels to move the machine between work locations and lower it to operating position only when ready to compact.
For best results, perform compaction in layers (lifts) appropriate to the soil type, check engine oil and fuel before each use, and follow scheduled maintenance intervals. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (hearing protection, safety boots and gloves) and ensure stable footing when operating the machine in trenches or on slopes.
