Wood Spade Drill Bit Dedra 40 x 152 mm
Wood Spade Drill Bit Dedra 40 x 152 mm is a flat (spade) wood bit designed for drilling larger through-holes and recesses in both soft and hardwoods. The 40 mm cutting diameter and 152 mm overall length provide an effective combination for creating quick, clean holes for cables, pipes, dowels and through-bolts. A central point ensures accurate starts while the flat blade removes material rapidly, making it suitable for use with corded and cordless electric drills and drill drivers in carpentry and general woodworking.
The flat blade geometry offers rapid material removal and consistent hole shapes, reducing the need for excessive finishing. The central point provides guided starts to help prevent wandering on the workpiece, which improves accuracy when positioning holes. The length allows drilling through typical timber thicknesses and timber assemblies, while the wide diameter is suited to larger-diameter requirements in installation and joinery tasks.
Secure the drill bit firmly in the drill chuck and ensure the workpiece is clamped or otherwise immobilized. Position the center point on the marked location and start drilling at low speed to establish the starter hole, then increase speed and apply steady pressure to cut through the material. Withdraw the bit periodically to clear chips and reduce heat buildup. For through-holes, drill from one side until the center point exits, then finish from the opposite side if a cleaner exit is required.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection. For best results, maintain a sharp cutting edge and remove pitch or resin buildup after use. When drilling hardwoods, reduce feed pressure and frequently clear chips to avoid overheating and premature dulling.
