The DeLOCK 63968 is an RS-232 serial converter, repeater and isolator that provides galvanic isolation between two DB9 devices. Housed in a plastic enclosure, it protects connected equipment such as computers, controllers, measuring instruments and machines from electromagnetic interference, electrostatic discharge and surges while maintaining continuous data transmission even in the presence of earth/ground loops. The unit connects directly between two DB9 RS-232 ports and does not require an external power supply.
The isolator ensures continuous, stable RS-232 communications by eliminating ground loop issues through complete galvanic isolation. It protects devices from electromagnetic and electrostatic disturbances as well as transient surges. The compact plastic housing is lightweight and durable, and the device is simple to install as a direct coupling between two DB9 connectors without additional power.
Connect the DeLOCK 63968 directly between two RS-232 DB9 ports using standard DB9 cables. Ensure connectors are oriented and fastened correctly to maintain reliable contact. Once connected, the device operates passively to provide galvanic isolation and signal repeating without requiring additional configuration or a separate power source.
Use standard-shielded RS-232 cables and secure cable routing to minimise external interference. Verify connector pinouts when integrating with custom or non-standard equipment. For installations in electrically noisy environments, position the isolator close to the device requiring protection to reduce exposure to transient disturbances.
