Serial cable DELOCK 86876 D-Sub 25 Pin to D-Sub 9 Pin, beige, 5 m
DELOCK 86876 is a 5 m beige serial cable with a D-Sub 25 pin (male) connector on one end and a D-Sub 9 pin (female) connector on the other. It is designed for RS-232 and legacy serial connections, providing a physical link between devices such as modems, routers, industrial controllers and older personal computers. The cable supports standard serial signalling and is intended for data transfer, device configuration and diagnostics where D-Sub 25 to D-Sub 9 wiring is required.
The cable offers a straightforward, ready-made connection between 25-pin and 9-pin D-Sub interfaces, saving time compared with wiring an adapter. With a 5 metre length it gives extended reach for installation and testing, while the robust D-Sub metal housings ensure secure mating and reliable contact. The neutral beige jacket makes the cable suitable for mixed equipment environments and helps maintain a tidy installation.
This cable is intended for standard RS-232 and legacy D-Sub wiring; it is not suitable for modern USB, Ethernet or other non-serial interfaces without additional adapters. It does not provide signal conversion or voltage level shifting beyond the RS-232 standard wiring, so devices requiring specific bespoke pinouts or active conversion may not work with a passive cable.
Identify the appropriate serial ports on both devices and ensure power is switched off before connecting. Plug the D-Sub 25 pin male end into the device with the 25-pin receptacle and the D-Sub 9 pin female end into the device with the 9-pin plug, hand-tightening any thumb screws or securing the metal housings to prevent loosening. After connection, power the devices and configure the serial parameters (baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits and flow control) in the device settings or terminal software as required for communication.
For reliable serial communication, keep cable runs away from high-voltage or high-frequency sources, secure connectors to avoid intermittent contact, and match serial settings exactly on both devices. If problems occur, verify wiring continuity and pin mapping before assuming device faults.
