Filament Devil Design HIPS 1.75 mm 0.8 kg in black is a thermoplastic filament designed for FDM/FFF 3D printing. Made from High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS), this filament is commonly used as a support material for ABS prints and for standalone parts where impact resistance and dimensional stability are important. The 1.75 mm diameter and 0.8 kg spool weight make it compatible with most desktop 3D printers that accept 1.75 mm filament.
HIPS offers good mechanical strength and ease of printing on standard FDM printers. As a support material for ABS, it separates cleanly and can be removed mechanically; it is also soluble in limonene when chemical support removal is required. The filament provides consistent extrusion and dimensional stability, which helps produce reliable layers and repeatable results during prototyping and functional part production.
Load the 1.75 mm HIPS filament into a compatible extruder following your printer manufacturer's instructions. Use nozzle and bed temperatures appropriate for HIPS and for the partner material (for example ABS when used as support). Ensure good adhesion to the build surface with a suitable bed prep method and calibrate extrusion settings to avoid over- or under-extrusion. When used as a support for ABS, print HIPS on the support extruder or as the support material in dual-extrusion setups. For chemical removal of supports, follow safe handling procedures for limonene if chosen as solvent.
Store the filament in a dry and cool environment, preferably in sealed packaging with desiccant to prevent moisture absorption. Test small calibration prints to adjust extrusion multiplier and retraction settings for optimal surface finish and support separation. When dissolving HIPS supports with limonene, use adequate ventilation and appropriate personal protective equipment.
