Brad point drill bit DeWalt DT4510 — 133 mm length, for wood, 1 pc
DeWalt DT4510 brad point drill bit, 133 mm length, is designed specifically for accurate wood drilling. The brad point tip provides precise positioning on the workpiece and produces clean entry holes with minimal tear-out. Constructed from chrome-vanadium alloy with a centering point, two shoulders and peripheral cutting edges, this single-piece bit is suitable for drilling plywood, natural hard and softwood, and for creating neat dowel and through holes.
The brad point tip ensures stable centering and prevents wandering at the start of drilling, enabling accurate hole placement. Chrome-vanadium alloy construction offers good toughness and wear resistance for woodworking tasks. Peripheral cutting edges and shoulders deliver clean chip removal and smooth hole walls, reducing splintering on the exit side. The 133 mm overall length gives sufficient reach for typical carpentry and joinery operations while maintaining rigidity for straight drilling.
Mark the drilling position and secure the workpiece to prevent movement. Fit the DeWalt brad point bit into a suitable drill or drill press chuck and tighten securely. Start drilling at low speed to engage the centering point and then increase speed as the bit advances. Apply steady, even pressure; avoid excessive force which can cause tear-out or breakage. For through holes, support the exit side with sacrificial backing to minimise splintering. Withdraw the bit occasionally on deep holes to clear chips.
Use appropriate rotational speed for the wood type: lower speeds for hardwoods and slightly higher speeds for softwoods. Keep the bit sharp and clean; regrind or replace when wear affects centring or edge quality. Always wear eye protection and follow safe drilling practice when working with power tools.
