Drill bit DeWalt DT4876-QZ — 600 mm, for wood, 1 pc
DeWalt DT4876-QZ is a 600 mm long wood drill bit designed for drilling deep and through-holes in timber, softwood, hardwood and laminated boards. Supplied as a single piece, the bit provides extended reach for applications where standard-length bits are not sufficient. The design includes a tapered transition between the drill and the clamp for easier removal from drilled holes, and the drilling and clamping parts are securely joined to ensure stable operation and accurate holes.
The extended 600 mm length enables drilling at increased depth and reach without needing extensions or multiple setups. Threaded and glued assembly of the drilling and clamping parts provides a secure connection that reduces wobble and maintains concentricity for straight boreholes. The tapered transition eases tool withdrawal from the hole, minimising damage to the bore edge and reducing the chance of snagging. The bit geometry and cutting edges are optimised to deliver fast, accurate and clean holes in hardwood, softwood and laminate.
Secure the drill bit in a compatible chuck according to the drill manufacturer's instructions. Position the workpiece and mark the drilling point. Start drilling at low speed to establish the cut, then increase speed as appropriate for the material while maintaining steady feed pressure. For long deep holes, periodically withdraw the bit to clear chips and reduce heat build-up. After finishing the hole, remove the bit using the tapered transition to help extract it cleanly from the bore.
Use appropriate drilling speeds and steady feed for the specific wood type; lower speeds for hardwoods and higher speeds for softwoods and laminate. Keep the drill bit clear of excessive heat by withdrawing chips during long holes and use personal protective equipment such as eye protection and dust extraction when working with wood. Ensure the chuck is rated for the bit length and securely tightened before use.
