DeWalt DT4914 twist drill bit is a single right-hand rotation cutting tool designed for general purpose drilling with drills and drill drivers. Made with enhanced material composition and geometry, this twist drill bit is intended to produce clean round holes in common workpiece materials while offering extended life and improved penetration compared with standard black oxide variants.
The bit contains 8% cobalt to maintain a sharper cutting edge and deliver up to four times the life compared to standard black oxide bits. Its optimised tip and flute geometry increase penetration speed and clear swarf more effectively, reducing heat buildup during use. A stronger central core improves resistance to breakage, while the ‘no walk’ tip enables easier and more accurate initial positioning on the work surface.
Secure the twist drill bit in the drill chuck and tighten firmly before starting. Mark the drilling point and, if required, use a centre punch to prevent walking on smooth surfaces. Start drilling at low speed to establish the hole, then increase to an appropriate speed for the material while applying consistent, moderate feed pressure. Use cutting fluid or coolant when drilling hard metals to reduce heat and extend tool life. Clear chips frequently to avoid clogging the flutes.
For best results, select drill speeds and feed rates appropriate to the workpiece material and use lubrication when drilling steel or other hard metals. Inspect the bit for wear before use and replace when the cutting edge is noticeably dulled to maintain hole quality and reduce the risk of breakage.
