Twist drill bit set DeWalt DT4958 2 pcs, right-hand rotation, blister pack
DeWalt DT4958 twist drill bit set contains two right-hand rotation bits supplied in a blister pack for routine drilling of metals and wood with conventional drills. Designed for portable or stationary drilling, these bits are suitable for high-alloy steels and a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The geometry and 5% cobalt content improve life, penetration and chip evacuation, while a no-walk tip and reinforced core help produce accurate, burr-free holes.
The 5% cobalt composition maintains a sharper cutting edge and extends tool life compared with standard high-speed steel, while optimised tip and flute geometry increase penetration speed and reduce heat build-up. A no-walk tip ensures easier and more accurate entry into the workpiece, producing cleaner holes with reduced burrs. A three-sided anti-slip shank provides secure grip in the chuck for stable drilling, and a progressively thicker central core increases fracture resistance during freehand use.
Select a drill with right-hand rotation and secure the correct bit in the chuck, ensuring the three-sided shank seats firmly to prevent slipping. Mark the drilling point and, if needed for accuracy on smooth surfaces, use a center punch before starting. Use moderate feed pressure and appropriate spindle speed for the material being drilled; the optimised geometry is designed to improve penetration speed and chip evacuation, so avoid excessive speeds that could overheat the bit. Withdraw periodically on deeper holes to clear chips and allow cooling.
Use cutting fluid or suitable coolant when drilling stainless or high-alloy steels to reduce heat and extend bit life. For best results, match drill speed and feed to the workpiece material and clamp work securely. Inspect bits for wear or damage before use and replace when cutting performance declines.
