Concrete drill bit DeWalt DT6500 3 x 60 mm
The DeWalt DT6500 3 x 60 mm concrete drill bit is a carbide-tipped masonry bit designed for drilling small-diameter holes in concrete and other masonry substrates. With a 3 mm cutting diameter and a 60 mm overall length, this bit is aimed at tasks requiring precision, such as fixing small anchors, installing dowels, or creating passages for thin cables and pipes. Its carbide tip improves wear resistance and maintains cutting performance when used in rotary or light hammer drilling modes.
The carbide tip provides increased hardness and abrasion resistance compared with high-speed steel, helping the DeWalt DT6500 retain sharpness during repeated drilling in concrete. The slim 3 mm diameter enables precise, low-impact holes with minimal chipping around the entry point. A 60 mm length gives adequate reach for shallow embedment and through-holes in common masonry applications. Compatibility with both rotary and hammer drills makes the bit versatile for professional and DIY use.
Select a drill with a suitable chuck size and clamp the 3 mm bit securely. Mark the drilling point and, if possible, use a center punch or pilot mark to prevent walking. Start drilling at low speed to establish the hole, then increase speed and apply steady pressure; allow the bit to do the cutting rather than forcing it. For deeper holes, withdraw periodically to clear dust from the hole. When using a hammer drill function, use light hammer action appropriate for small-diameter bits to avoid breakage.
Wear eye protection and a dust mask when drilling masonry. Use a depth stop or tape on the bit to control hole depth. For prolonged use, periodically withdraw the bit to clear debris and reduce heat buildup; replace the bit when wear reduces drilling efficiency or causes excessive walking.
