Serial Port Interface Card M-Cab 7100063
The EFB Elektronik Serial Port Interface Card M-Cab 7100063 is a PCI expansion card that provides two serial (RS-232) ports. It is based on the NM9835CV controller and complies with PCI Specification Revision 2.1. The card supports typical 16C550 UART functionality with 16-byte transmit/receive FIFOs and offers fast data rates up to 1 Mbyte/s. It includes two DB9 connectors and two pin-header serial connectors and is compatible with a range of operating systems including Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, NT4.0 and Linux. The card requires one 32-bit PCI slot and carries RoHS, FCC and CE certifications.
The M-Cab 7100063 supports Plug & Play operation with automatic IRQ and I/O address selection and PCI IRQ sharing, simplifying installation in standard PC systems. Its compliance with the 16C550 UART standard and the inclusion of 16-byte FIFOs help ensure reliable serial communication at higher data rates. Multiple connector options (DB9 and pin headers) offer flexibility for connecting a variety of serial devices.
Install the card into an available 32-bit PCI slot on a powered-off PC, secure it in the chassis, and reconnect power. On system startup the card should be detected by the BIOS and supported operating systems will initialize the device using Plug & Play. Connect serial devices to the DB9 connectors or to the pin-header connectors via appropriate cables or adapters. If necessary, install drivers provided by the operating system or the hardware vendor to enable full functionality on legacy systems.
Ensure the host PC is powered off before inserting or removing the PCI card. Use shielded serial cables for longer runs to reduce interference. Verify driver compatibility with your operating system version and apply any vendor-supplied drivers for optimal performance.
