The Ei Electronics Ei650RF optical smoke alarm uses a photoelectric sensor to detect low-energy smoke particles, making it particularly effective at sensing smouldering fires while remaining suitable for all common domestic fire types. The unit is powered by a sealed 3V lithium battery with a 10-year service life under normal use and has a compact form factor (diameter 11.5 cm, height 45 mm, weight 210 g). How to use

Install the twist-on mounting base to the chosen ceiling or wall location using the multiple fixing points, then twist the alarm onto the base to power the unit. Use the large Test button to perform regular checks: press once to start a progressive-volume test sequence and verify alarm operation. If the alarm is triggered by nuisance sources such as cooking fumes, press the Test/Silence button to mute the alarm for 10 minutes. The unit will continue automatic self-checks and signal any fault conditions through red LED flashes and/or beeps.

Usage recommendations

Install alarms on every level of the property and in sleeping areas; avoid mounting directly over stoves or in very dusty/dirty locations. Test the alarm regularly using the Test button and replace the alarm according to manufacturer lifetime guidance once the 10-year battery life is exceeded or if persistent faults occur.
