ELEGOO gray ABS filament is a thermoplastic filament for FDM/FFF 3D printers, developed for durable, functional prints. It provides good mechanical strength and dimensional stability, making it suitable for prototypes, housings and technical parts that require impact resistance and moderate heat tolerance. The filament is intended for users who need robust, functional components and who may apply post-processing such as sanding or acetone smoothing.
Made from ABS, the filament offers reliable heat resistance and improved dimensional stability compared with many PETG options. It is mechanically robust, resistant to impacts and pressure, and retains properties in a range of environments including cooler or drier conditions. These characteristics make it suitable for functional parts and enclosures that must withstand repeated use.
ABS can emit fumes during printing and generally requires a well-ventilated area or an enclosed printer with ventilation. It typically needs a heated bed and may be more prone to warping on large flat surfaces compared with some other materials, so it may not be the best choice for very large, thin prints without appropriate bed adhesion and temperature control.
Print this ABS filament on FDM/FFF printers using a heated bed and appropriate nozzle temperature for ABS. Use adequate bed adhesion techniques (brim, raft, or adhesion sheets) and control ambient temperature or use an enclosure to reduce warping. After printing, parts can be sanded or smoothed with acetone vapor where applicable to improve surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
Use a heated bed and, when possible, an enclosed printer to maintain stable temperatures. Apply proper bed adhesion and allow slow cooling to minimise warping; use filaments of matching diameter and storage in a dry place to preserve print quality.
