Description

The Elinchrom Rotalux Rectabox (800 x 300 x 600 mm) is a collapsible softbox designed for studio photography. Its umbrella-like folding mechanism and included carrying bag make it convenient to transport and store. Constructed with high-quality diffusing and reflecting fabrics and a second internal diffuser, the Rectabox produces soft, even light suitable for portrait, product, and commercial shoots. Note: the speed ring is not included and must be ordered separately.

Advantages

The softbox offers excellent diffusion and reflection thanks to premium fabrics and an internal double-diffuser design that evens out light and reduces harsh shadows. Its lightweight frame folds like an umbrella for fast setup and compact storage, and the package includes a translucent deflector to further soften shadows as well as a protective carrying bag. Durable features such as heavy-duty wing-nut locking, grey rip piping and easy snap locks ensure reliable use in studio environments. Optional accessories (deflector set, hooded diffusers, Lighttools grids) allow modification of beam spread, softness and color characteristics.

How to use

Assemble the softbox by extending the rods and locking them into the central Elinchrom shaft following the umbrella-style folding system. Attach the outer cover and secure the internal diffuser over the rods, then fit the external diffuser on the front. Mount the assembled softbox to a compatible speed ring (ordered separately) and attach it to your studio head. Fine-tune light quality by adding the included translucent deflector or optional grids and hooded diffusers as needed.

Usage recommendations

For even and repeatable results, use the Rectabox with a stable studio light head and consistent distance to the subject. Use the internal and external diffusers together for maximum softness; add the deflector or grids to control shadow definition and beam spread. Store folded in the carrying bag to protect fabrics and hardware during transport.
