Description

The Elinchrom Rotalux Octabox Black Silver 1350mm (depth 420mm) is a lightweight octagonal softbox designed to deliver soft, even lighting for studio and location photography. Its foldable umbrella-style construction and included carrying bag make it portable and easy to store. The internal diffuser and translucent deflector produce a smooth, even light distribution; the deflector set (optional) uses Elinchrom’s central shaft to further modify light softness and colour characteristics.

Advantages

High-quality diffusing and reflecting fabrics and a second internal diffuser provide consistently soft light with minimal hotspots. The octabox folds down quickly and is compact for transport. Professional finishing details include grey rip piping, heavy-duty locking with a wing nut and easy snap locks. A translucent deflector is included to soften shadows, and optional Lighttools grids and hooded diffusers are available to reduce light spill and shape the beam.

How to use

Assemble the Rotalux by extending the umbrella-style frame and attaching the softbox rods to the speed ring (speed ring sold separately). Fit the black/silver cover over the frame, secure the internal diffuser and then attach the external translucent deflector to achieve softer shadows. Mount the assembled softbox onto a compatible flash or strobe using the appropriate Elinchrom speed ring. For reduced spill, add a hooded diffuser or Lighttools grid if available.

Usage recommendations

Use the Rotalux Octabox at moderate distances for flattering, even illumination; pair it with diffusers and optional grids to control contrast and spill. Order the correct Elinchrom speed ring for your flash head before use.
