Description

The Elinchrom Rotalux Octabox is a professional octagonal softbox with a 1750 mm diameter and 500 mm depth, designed for studio photography. It delivers very soft, even light thanks to high-quality diffusing and reflecting fabrics and an internal diffuser. The softbox is lightweight (2.09 kg), folds down like an umbrella and is supplied with a carrying bag for convenient storage and transport. The speed ring is not included and must be ordered separately.

Advantages

The Rotalux construction produces an even, high-quality light distribution; the included internal diffuser and translucent deflector reduce harsh shadows and smooth the light. Materials feature a reflective silver interior and durable outer fabric with grey rip piping and heavy-duty locking mechanisms. The softbox is easy to assemble and fold away, and optional accessories (hooded diffusers, deflector set and Lighttools grids) allow further control over light spread, hardness and colour.

How to use

Assemble the softbox by inserting the rods into the central shaft and securing them with the easy snap locks and wing-nut locking. Fit the internal and external diffusers to achieve the desired softness; use the included translucent deflector to further soften shadows. Mount the softbox on a compatible speed ring and light stand (speed ring not included). Fold the unit down like an umbrella for storage in the supplied carrying bag.

Usage recommendations

For controlled light shaping, consider the optional deflector set and Lighttools grids; hooded diffusers reduce spill when a narrower beam is needed. Verify compatibility of the speed ring with your Elinchrom or third-party heads before purchase.
