Softbox Elinchrom Rotalux Go Octa 60 cm – studio lighting modifier
The Elinchrom Rotalux Go Octa 60 cm is an octagonal softbox designed for studio and location photography. With a 60 cm diameter, it produces soft, even light that helps reduce harsh shadows and create natural catchlights in eyes and reflective surfaces. Compatible with Elinchrom mounts, this compact Octa is intended as a versatile light modifier for portrait, product and fashion work where controlled, flattering diffusion is required.
This softbox delivers smooth, uniform light across the frame thanks to its octagonal shape and interior diffusion. The 60 cm size offers a balance between light fall-off control and portability, making it suitable for both close-up portraits and tabletop product shots. Constructed to mount securely on Elinchrom-compatible heads, the unit provides reliable shaping of beam spread and consistent softening of highlights without adding noticeable color cast.
Attach the softbox to an Elinchrom-compatible head using the manufacturer mount and ensure the mounting ring is properly seated. Install the inner diffusion panel first if supplied, then stretch the outer front diffuser evenly over the frame to avoid wrinkles. Position the light at the desired distance from the subject to control softness and fall-off: closer placement yields softer light and broader wrap, while moving the softbox farther increases contrast. Adjust angle and height to shape shadows and catchlights as required for the composition.
For portrait work, place the Octa slightly above eye level and angled down for natural catchlights. For product shots, use a modest distance and consider adding a reflector or fill light to control shadow depth. Handle the softbox by its frame when setting up, store with diffusers flat or rolled to reduce creasing, and avoid exposing the internal fabric to direct heat from bare bulbs.
