Tensioning and Cutting Tool for Steel Strapping ENSTO CT42 — tensioner and cutter for steel mounting strap
The ENSTO CT42 tensioning and cutting tool for steel strapping is a handheld mechanical device designed to apply controlled tension and perform integrated cutting on steel mounting straps. It is intended for use in electrical and industrial installations where steel strapping secures cable trays, conduits, pipes or other structural elements. The tool combines a tensioning mechanism with a cutter to streamline the process of fastening and trimming steel straps on site.
The ENSTO CT42 provides consistent mechanical tensioning that helps achieve uniform strap tightness across multiple fixings, reducing the need for repeated manual adjustments. Its integrated cutter eliminates the need for separate cutting tools, saving time during installation. The robust construction and ergonomic handle are designed to withstand frequent use in professional environments while maintaining control and safety during tensioning and cutting operations.
The CT42 is designed specifically for steel strapping; it is not suitable for use with textile, polypropylene or composite straps. For very fine adjustment requirements or delicate surfaces where metal straps could cause damage, alternative fastening methods should be considered. The tool requires manual force to operate and therefore may not be ideal for repetitive high-volume production without appropriate work-rest planning.
Position the steel strap around the object to be secured and feed the strap into the tool according to the manufacturer’s guidance so the tensioning mechanism engages the strap. Operate the handle to apply the desired tension, monitoring strap tightness to avoid over-tensioning. Once the required tension is reached, use the integrated cutter to trim the excess strap. Check the finished securing to ensure the strap is properly seated and retained. Follow standard safety procedures, including eye protection and gloves, when handling and cutting steel straps.
Use the ENSTO CT42 with appropriately rated steel strapping and follow manufacturer guidance for strap sizing and handling. Inspect the tool regularly for wear, keep cutting edges clear of debris, and replace any worn components to maintain consistent tensioning and cutting performance.
