Product information

Description

The Extralink Cable pulling rod Pilot 6mm 100m glass fibre FRP yellow is a professional tool designed for efficient cable pulling and routing through conduits, pipes, and telecommunications manholes. Manufactured from durable glass fibre FRP and coated with protective yellow PE plastic, this rod combines high elasticity with exceptional resistance to bending and tearing. The complete assembly is mounted on a powder-coated blue steel stand equipped with a manual brake to lock the drum and a guiding eye, ensuring convenient transport, storage, and effortless handling during network installations.

Advantages

This cable pulling rod offers outstanding durability and flexibility thanks to its high-quality fibreglass construction. The protective yellow polyethylene coating provides excellent sliding properties, allowing the rod to glide smoothly through restrictive spaces without snagging. The inclusion of a sturdy stand with a manual brake simplifies the unwinding process and prevents accidental spooling, while the dedicated guiding head ensures precise navigation through complex pathways.

Suitable for

Pulling cables and wires through conduits and protective pipes
Routing telecommunications lines between manholes
Pushing cables underneath roads and pavements
Managing installations within suspended ceilings
Cleaning and unclogging pipes and sewage systems

When it may not be suitable

This product may not be ideal for extremely tight micro-ducts or very short residential runs where a thicker or shorter fish tape would offer better control. Additionally, operations requiring non-conductive properties in wet electrical environments should be evaluated carefully, as standard fibreglass rods are primarily intended for telecommunication and general cable routing tasks.

Key specifications

Rod material: Fibreglass FRP
Rod diameter: 6 mm
Rod length: 100 m
Product colour: Yellow and blue
Stand features: 1 wheel, manual brake, and guiding eye
End fitting: Guiding head

How to use

Begin by placing the stand on a stable surface near the conduit entry point and release the manual brake gently. Pull the desired length of the fibreglass rod from the drum, guiding it through the eye on the frame. Attach the cable securely to the guiding head at the end of the rod. Slowly push the rod through the pipe, conduit, or ceiling void until it emerges at the target location. Once reached, fasten your cables to the pulling end and retrieve the rod steadily by winding it back onto the drum using the frame.

What to consider before purchase

Verify that the 6 mm diameter and 100 m length match your specific installation distance and conduit sizing requirements.
Ensure you have adequate workspace around the conduit entry point to accommodate the mounting stand and drum.
Assess whether the bending radius of the 6 mm fibreglass rod is suitable for the sharpest bends in your routing path.

Always inspect the fibreglass rod for signs of fraying or splintering before each use, wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent glass fibre irritation, and do not exceed the recommended bending limits to maintain the lifespan of the tool.
