Cable pulling rod Extralink Pilot, fibreglass FRP, diameter 11 mm, length 100 m, yellow
Extralink Pilot cable pulling rod is a 100 m fibreglass (FRP) rod with an 11 mm nominal diameter and a durable yellow PE coating. Designed for guiding and installing cables in ducts and conduits, this lightweight, non-conductive rod is suitable for telecom and network installation tasks. The rod comes wound on a blue powder-coated stand with a manual brake and an eyelet guide, and the fibreglass core ends with a guiding head to simplify insertion and retrieval.
The FRP construction provides high elasticity and resistance to bending and tearing while remaining non-conductive and lightweight for single-person operation. The yellow PE coating protects the glass fibre, improves sliding inside ducts and increases visibility. The included powder-coated stand facilitates transport, storage and controlled unrolling; the manual brake blocks the drum when needed and the eyelet guide helps maintain correct alignment during deployment.
Mount the drum on the powder-coated stand and secure it with the manual brake if required. Insert the guiding head into the entry of the duct or conduit and push the rod forward while keeping the eyelet guide aligned to avoid twisting. Use controlled unrolling from the stand to feed the rod through bends and curves; apply steady pressure without sharp bending. Once the rod reaches the target location, attach the cable to the guiding head or end fitting and pull the rod back to draw the cable through the conduit. After use, wind the rod back onto the drum and lock with the brake for storage and transport.
The rod is intended for guiding and installing cables in ducts and conduits; avoid using it near live electrical conductors despite its non-conductive properties. Inspect the PE coating and guiding head for damage before each use, store the stand and rod in a dry place to prolong service life, and avoid excessive force or sharp bends greater than the rod's design allows.
