Cable pulling rod Extralink Pilot 4.5 mm, 25 m glass fibre FRP, yellow
Extralink Pilot 4.5 mm, 25 m cable pulling rod is a yellow glass fibre (FRP) rod designed for installing and routing telecommunication and network cables in conduits, ducts and other confined spaces. The 4.5 mm diameter and 25 m length balance reach with manageable flexibility, while the FRP material provides a combination of tensile strength, low weight and electrical non-conductivity. The bright yellow colour improves visibility when threading through conduits and during retrieval.
The FRP construction gives the rod good flexibility for navigating bends while maintaining the stiffness needed to push through long runs. Being non-conductive reduces electrical risk when working near live wiring. The 4.5 mm diameter allows passage through many common conduits and microducts, and the 25 m length covers typical residential and small commercial routes without requiring jointing. Its lightweight design eases manual handling and reduces operator fatigue during repeated pulls.
Before use, inspect the rod for visible damage. Feed the rod into the conduit or duct, pushing gently while rotating to negotiate bends; do not force against excessive resistance. If available, attach a pull line or leading eye to the end before pulling back through the route. For long runs, advance the rod in stages to avoid buckling. After use, clean the rod, wind it carefully to prevent kinks and store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment and avoid contact with live electrical components. Do not exceed the rod's practical pushing capability; if a route feels obstructed, withdraw and inspect rather than applying excessive force. Combine the rod with a suitable pull line or fish tape for heavier cable pulls and follow local safety rules for cable installation.
