FANAR tap UNF 3/8-24 DIN 371C R40 (2B) HSSE 800
FANAR tap UNF 3/8-24 DIN 371C R40 (2B) HSSE 800
FANAR tap UNF 3/8-24 DIN 371C R40 (2B) HSSE 800 is a hand tap designed to cut internal UNF 3/8-24 threads with a DIN 371C thread profile and R40 tolerance. Manufactured from HSSE 800 high-speed steel with cobalt content, this tap is intended for general threading tasks in metallic materials where improved wear resistance and heat tolerance are required. The tool provides a 2B class of fit suitable for standard internal thread assemblies and is produced to machining dimensions consistent with UNF standards.
The HSSE 800 material offers higher red-hardness and improved wear resistance compared with conventional high-speed steel, extending tool life during repeated threading cycles. The DIN 371C geometry and R40 tolerance ensure consistent thread form and dimensional accuracy. As a hand tap, it is suitable for controlled manual tapping operations and provides predictable chip evacuation and thread quality for a wide range of metallic substrates.
Select the appropriate drill size for the UNF 3/8-24 thread and secure the workpiece. Align the FANAR hand tap perpendicular to the hole and apply steady, even pressure while turning. Use cutting fluid suitable for the workpiece material to reduce friction and improve chip evacuation. Advance the tap with a few turns forward, then reverse slightly to break chips, and continue until the thread is fully formed. Clean chips from the tap and hole before final inspection.
For best results, use compatible cutting lubricant and maintain correct drill-to-tap clearance for UNF 3/8-24. When tapping harder steels or interrupted cuts, reduce feed rate and monitor tool wear; replace the tap when thread quality declines. Store the tap in a dry location to prevent corrosion and protect the cutting edges.
