Hand Tap FANAR DIN-376B HSSE TiN 800X M16 (MPN D2-113X01-0160)
Hand Tap FANAR DIN-376B HSSE TiN 800X M16 is a manual metric tap designed for cutting internal threads in metals and alloys. Manufactured from high-speed steel with HSSE composition and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tap follows the DIN-376B standard and belongs to the 800X series. It is intended for workshop use, maintenance, repair and prototype threading where a durable, wear-resistant tool is required for repeated manual tapping operations.
The HSSE base material provides toughness and resistance to chipping during manual use, while the TiN coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction for longer life and improved chip evacuation. Conformity with DIN-376B ensures standard thread geometry and reliable fit with corresponding nuts and bolts. The 800X series geometry is optimised for general-purpose cutting in a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials under hand-tapping conditions.
Select an appropriate pilot hole diameter for M16 threads and secure the workpiece in a vise or fixture. Use a proper tap wrench to hold the tap concentrically and apply steady, even pressure while turning clockwise to cut the thread. Back the tap out periodically to break and clear chips, and apply suitable cutting fluid to reduce heat and improve chip evacuation. Maintain alignment throughout the operation to prevent cross-threading and tool breakage.
Use this HSSE TiN-coated hand tap for manual threading of medium- to high-strength metals. For harder materials or heavy production use consider using machine taps or tapping with controlled feed rates. Regular inspection for wear and timely replacement of taps will ensure consistent thread quality and reduce the risk of tool failure.
