Thread Tap FANAR G 3/8" DIN-5156B HSSE TiN 800X is a machine tap designed to cut G (BSP parallel) 3/8" threads in metalworking operations. Made from HSSE (high-speed steel with added cobalt) and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this tap follows the DIN-5156B geometry to provide consistent thread form and dimensional accuracy in workshop and industrial tapping tasks.
The HSSE material offers increased hot hardness and toughness compared with standard HSS, while the TiN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance for longer tool life under repetitive use. Conformance to DIN-5156B ensures compatibility with standard thread profiles and predictable cutting performance. The construction and coating combination supports higher cutting speeds and reduced adhesion when working with common steels and alloyed materials.
This tap may not be appropriate for extremely hard materials beyond the recommended hardness range for HSSE tools, or for abrasive, non-metallic materials that can cause premature wear. For stainless steels with high workhardening tendencies or for materials requiring special chip control, alternative tap geometries or coatings may perform better.
Select the correct pilot drill size and prepare the hole according to G 3/8" tapping recommendations and DIN-5156B tolerances. Secure the workpiece and ensure proper alignment of the tap to the hole axis. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the work material to improve chip evacuation and reduce friction. For machine tapping, set speeds consistent with HSSE TiN tooling and the workpiece material; apply controlled feed and avoid excessive axial force. Inspect threads after cutting and remove any chips before finishing.
Use cutting fluid suitable for the material being tapped, control spindle speed according to HSSE TiN tooling guidelines, and replace taps at the first signs of wear to maintain thread quality and dimensional accuracy.
