Smoke Detector FireAngel SB5-INT Optical Wireless
The FireAngel SB5-INT Optical Wireless smoke detector is a compact, battery-powered unit designed to detect smoke at an early stage and communicate alarms wirelessly. The detector uses an optical (photoelectric) sensing chamber to identify visible particles from smouldering fires and delivers an audible alarm to alert occupants. Its lightweight construction and slim profile allow for straightforward ceiling or wall mounting in domestic and small commercial environments.
The optical sensing technology offers reliable detection of slow-burning and smouldering fires while reducing false alarms from cooking or steam. Wireless capability enables interconnection with compatible devices to provide building-wide alerts without complex wiring. Long battery life of up to five years reduces maintenance frequency, and the detector's compact size and low weight make installation and replacement quick and simple.
Install the detector on a ceiling or high on a wall using the supplied mounting bracket and screws, ensuring the unit is placed away from drafts and not directly above kitchens or bathrooms to minimise false alarms. Insert a fresh 9 V battery and follow the manufacturer’s pairing procedure to connect the detector wirelessly to other compatible units if required. Test the alarm after installation using the test button and repeat tests periodically to ensure correct operation. Replace the battery when the detector indicates low battery or at intervals recommended by the manufacturer.
Place detectors in sleeping areas and on each storey of the building for optimal coverage. Do not paint the detector, and avoid placing close to windows, doors or ventilation outlets. Regularly clean the exterior with a soft brush or vacuum attachment and follow periodic testing to maintain reliable performance.
