Flashforge 3DP-PVA-01-NAT is a 1 kg spool of PVA support filament with a 1.75 mm diameter, designed for use with desktop FDM/FFF 3D printers from any brand. PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) is a water-soluble support material that dissolves in water, enabling clean removal of supports from complex geometries and internal cavities without damaging the printed part. The natural color provides a neutral appearance suitable for multi-material assemblies and prototypes where unobtrusive supports are required.
PVA support filament offers precise bridging and good adhesion to common printing materials, reducing stringing between model and support structures and facilitating accurate removal after washing. The 1.75 mm diameter ensures compatibility with a wide range of extruders and simplifies filament handling. Being water-soluble, PVA eliminates the need for mechanical post-processing for internal supports, which helps preserve fine details and internal features that would otherwise be hard to access.
Load the 1.75 mm PVA filament into the printer following the printer manufacturer’s instructions for filament change and extrusion settings. Use PVA as the support material in dual-extrusion setups or as the support toolpath in slicer software. Print initial test pieces to determine ideal print temperature, print speed, and fan settings for your printer and the paired model material. After printing, remove the build plate or part from the printer and submerge the printed object in water at room temperature or slightly warm to dissolve the PVA supports; gentle agitation or a small circulation pump can speed up dissolution. Allow sufficient time for complete dissolution before drying or finishing the main print.
Store PVA filament in a dry, airtight container with desiccant to prevent moisture absorption. Use freshly dried filament or pre-dry according to manufacturer guidance if prints show poor extrusion or excessive bubbling. When pairing with water-sensitive model materials, ensure those materials are not exposed to prolonged water immersion; consider local removal and post-drying to protect the primary print material.
